A Reunion Full of Memories

Today brought a very special reunion to the German International School Accra: we were delighted to welcome back our former colleague Anna Fischer-Krayer, who worked at our school from 2016 to 2020 and served as Head of Kindergarten during that time. She was accompanied on her visit by her husband.

There were many warm reunions and familiar faces. In addition to former colleagues from the Kindergarten, Anna Fischer-Krayer also met local staff members who had already been part of the school community during her time in Accra. She also had the opportunity to meet Olivia Habtezghi, her current successor several generations on as Head of Kindergarten.

Looking back together also highlighted just how much has changed over the past years. Anna Fischer-Krayer was impressed by the school’s development, growth and the strong sense of momentum that can be felt across the German International School Accra today. Much is new – yet many personal connections have remained.

One particularly lovely moment was captured in a photo of Anna Fischer-Krayer and her husband together with our long-serving security officer Michael Akenga – a wonderful reminder that a school is shaped not only by buildings and programmes, but above all by people, shared memories and long-standing relationships.

There was also a sweet greeting for the team from Switzerland: Swiss chocolate, which was of course very warmly received.
