Support as an Integral Part of Our Secondary School

As we continue to develop our Secondary School, we are also systematically strengthening the individual support available to our students. In the 2026/27 academic year, language support, subject-specific assistance and independent learning will be integrated even more closely into the timetable.

Our aim is to establish a reliable support structure that does not begin only when difficulties arise. It should enable all students to learn successfully according to their language proficiency, academic strengths and individual learning needs.

German Language Support as Part of the Timetable

In Grades 5 and 6 as well as Grades 7 and 8, German as a first language and German as a foreign language are taught in parallel and planned jointly. This allows students to receive targeted support at their respective language levels.

In Grade 9, students are gradually introduced to joint German lessons. An additional German Club supports this transition and provides opportunities for language development and individual assistance.

Language-Sensitive Subject Teaching

Language development is not solely the responsibility of German lessons. For this reason, History and Geography as well as Biology are taught partly in language-differentiated learning groups in Grades 5 to 8.

The subject content and academic expectations remain unchanged. However, students learning German as a foreign language receive additional language support, for example with subject-specific terminology, complex tasks or presenting their own findings. In this way, subject learning and language development are more closely connected.

Learning Time in Grades 5 and 6

From Monday to Thursday, the eighth lesson in Grades 5 and 6 is organised as dedicated Learning Time. It includes:

Mathematics support
German language support
individual learning time
selected extracurricular activities

Learning Time gives students the opportunity to consolidate lesson content, complete tasks, develop effective learning strategies and receive individual support.

Additional Mathematics Support for Grades 7 to 9

A Mathematics Club is offered to students in Grades 7 to 9 on several mornings before regular lessons begin. Students can use this time to revise content, clarify questions and prepare specifically for new academic requirements.

Developing the Programme Together

The support programme will be reviewed regularly throughout the academic year and adapted to the actual needs of our students. Feedback from lessons, students, parents and teachers will contribute to its continued development.
