Connection
Building bridges by connecting our learning community to opportunities in Germany, Ghana and worldwide.
At the German International School Accra, we connect our students with opportunities in Germany, Ghana, and an increasingly interconnected world. International email projects, video conferences with partner schools, exchange programmes, and educational trips provide authentic opportunities for cross-cultural learning and meaningful collaboration beyond national borders.
Through digital cooperation with international partners, including universities such as the University of Potsdam, students engage in real-world projects that strengthen their language, academic, and digital skills. Interdisciplinary learning experiences encourage them to explore global issues, develop critical thinking, and take responsibility as active members of a global society.
Our students play an active role in shaping international projects and benefit from partnerships with schools, universities, and organisations in Germany, Ghana, and beyond. These experiences help them develop the competencies, confidence, and adaptability required for further education, future careers, and meaningful participation in an international environment.
The secondary school programme is based on the German curriculum while also incorporating key elements of the Cambridge curriculum. Students may choose to participate in the Cambridge Checkpoints, creating additional international pathways and facilitating smooth transitions between different educational systems around the world.
Looking ahead, the German International School Accra offers a range of academic pathways. These include the Intermediate School Leaving Certificate (Mittlerer Schulabschluss) and, in the longer term, internationally recognised qualifications such as the German International Baccalaureate (GIB) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). These qualifications provide access to vocational training programmes, higher education in Germany, and further academic opportunities worldwide.
Students are supported by a highly qualified and multidisciplinary team of educators. Additional support from teacher trainees and student teachers from German universities, particularly through our partnership with the University of Potsdam, enables personalised learning opportunities and provides access to innovative educational projects and international networks.
