Parent Representatives

Parent Representation at the German International School Accra

At the German International School Accra, elected parent representatives play an important role within our school community. They bring the perspectives and concerns of parents into the dialogue with the school, support constructive communication, and contribute to a trusting partnership between families and the school.

The parent representatives act as a link between the parent community and the school. They gather feedback, questions and suggestions of general relevance and bring them into discussions with the school leadership. At the same time, they receive information about important school developments and help ensure transparent communication within the school community.

At the beginning of each school year, parents elect representatives for their respective classes and groups. Together, these representatives form the School Parent Council. Matters concerning an individual class or group should generally be addressed at that level, while broader topics affecting several classes, groups or the school as a whole may be brought to the School Parent Council.

Policy on Parent Participation

The cooperation between parent representatives and the school is set out in the new Policy on Parent Participation, which was discussed and approved in substance in September 2026. It provides a clear framework for roles, communication and cooperation and strengthens parent participation as an advisory and participatory element of school life.
