A Successful Premiere: GISA's DaF Summer Camp Travels Through Africa
Learning never stops at GISA – not even during the summer holidays. This year marks the successful launch of our very first DaF (German as a Foreign Language) Summer Camp. Over the course of three weeks, our students have the opportunity to strengthen their German language skills through engaging, hands-on activities. Under the theme "Journey Around the World", each week focuses on a different continent.
This week, our young travellers explored the fascinating continent of Africa. They discovered the traditions of Ghana, went on a safari adventure in Kenya, uncovered the mysteries of Ancient Egypt, and explored the colourful markets and beautiful patterns of Morocco. Through games, arts and crafts, creative projects, and interactive language activities, the children continuously expanded their German vocabulary while learning about different cultures and traditions.
The camp combines language learning with intercultural discovery. Our students experience that learning a language is about much more than grammar and vocabulary – it opens doors to new perspectives, sparks curiosity, and fosters understanding of different cultures. By connecting language with meaningful experiences, German becomes a natural part of everyday communication.
The DaF Summer Camp, offered for the first time this year, reflects GISA's commitment to providing additional opportunities for students to develop their German language skills beyond the regular classroom.
A special thank you goes to Bernard Boateng and Denise Schoechert, who have planned and led the camp with outstanding dedication. Their willingness to devote three weeks of their own summer holidays to supporting our students' language development deserves our sincere appreciation. Their commitment helps our students build confidence, strengthen their German skills, and discover the joy of learning.
We are already looking forward to next week, when our journey around the world continues with our next destination: Asia.
