An Evening of Appreciation

Written on 14 December 2025

A Festive Christmas Celebration of the GISA Team

In a warm and festive atmosphere, the entire team of the German International School Accra (GISA) came together for this year’s Christmas celebration. Teachers, educators, administrative staff, support staff and extracurricular instructors gathered to bring an eventful, challenging and at the same time very successful year 2025 to a close.

Gratitude to the Team for an Intensive Year

School Director Rainer Kropp-Kurta took the opportunity to express his sincere thanks to all staff members. The year 2025 was marked by school development, strong growth and many new impulses. This successful year would not have been possible without the commitment, flexibility and team spirit of the entire school community. As a small token of appreciation, each team member received a gift.

Honouring Long-Standing Commitment

One of the most touching moments of the evening was the recognition of Millicent Abradu, who has been part of the school community as a cleaner for ten years. Her dedication, reliability and loyalty to the school were acknowledged with warm applause.

Great Atmosphere and Excellent Organisation

A lively and joyful atmosphere was created by a DJ and by the moderators and teacher representatives Clemencia Mayoga and Svea Matt. With charm, humour and an entertaining quiz, they guided everyone through the evening while also playing a key role in organising the event – a truly outstanding contribution.

Appreciation from the Parents’ Council

A special surprise came from the Parents’ Council, who expressed their appreciation for the entire team with a generously filled chest. It contained everything needed for a perfect gin and tonic – a thoughtful and light-hearted gesture that was warmly received.

A Special Guest and a Look Back

The school was honoured to welcome Lukas Brauchbar, former Chair of the School Board during the Swiss era. In his address, School Director Rainer Kropp-Kurta reflected on the school’s development:

The German International School Accra looks back on a varied history of almost 60 years. Founded in 1966 as the RMS Swiss School, it evolved after the end of Swiss recognition in 2012 into a recognised German international school with a bilingual profile. The unification of the educational pathways, its current orientation as an encounter school guided by the mission “Building Bridges,” and the school’s strong growth since 2023 continue to shape its development today.

A Solid Foundation for the Future

Another significant moment of the evening was the handover of key land and ownership documents to Lukas Brauchbar. Thanks also to the commitment of former Chair Mirna Adjami Lüdin, long-standing questions regarding the relationship between the Ramseyer Foundation and GISA were clarified transparently. This creates a legally secure and trustworthy basis for continued cooperation, built on almost six decades of German-language education in Accra.
