DaF Café: Experiencing and Discovering Language Together
On Thursday, parents had the opportunity to gain an insight into our German as a Foreign Language lessons. Two central questions were at the heart of the session: How does learning a foreign language work? And how can parents support their children in learning German, even if they do not speak German themselves?
Alongside the insight into classroom learning, things also became quite literally “idiomatic”: Parents were asked to guess which English translation matched a German expression and what it actually meant. Afterwards, they shared idioms and expressions from their own native languages.
This led to a lively exchange about language, culture and the many different ways in which thoughts and experiences can be expressed.
The DaF Café takes place every two months. The next dates are:
17 December 2026
21 January 2027
18 March 2027
20 May 2027
