Football as a Bridge: Professional Exchange Between the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy and Gesamtschule Berger Feld
Another highlight of the visit by the delegation from Gesamtschule Berger Feld to the German International School Accra (GISA) was the meeting with the coaching team of the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy.
The focus of the visit was a professional exchange between the guests from Gelsenkirchen and the Academyโs five coaches. In an open and highly productive atmosphere, participants shared experiences, discussed training approaches, and explored similarities and differences in youth player development. The conversation quickly developed into an engaging discussion about talent identification, training methodology, player motivation, and the role of football in supporting the personal growth of young people.
As a gesture of appreciation and friendship, the delegation presented the Academy with a number of footballs. The gift was warmly received by both the coaches and the young players and served as a visible symbol of the growing connection between the two institutions.
The visitors then observed several Academy training sessions. Rather than remaining passive observers, they actively contributed their own expertise, took charge of selected training sequences, and exchanged ideas directly with the coaches about drills, coaching techniques, and player development strategies. This created a dynamic, hands-on learning environment from which both sides benefited.
Throughout the exchange, it became clear that both the Gerald Asamoah Football Academy and Gesamtschule Berger Feld share a common belief: football is about much more than competition. Both organisations view sport as a powerful tool for fostering teamwork, responsibility, discipline, confidence, and mutual respect.
The intensive discussions and practical collaboration revealed numerous opportunities for future cooperation and once again demonstrated how sport can connect people, cultures, and educational institutions across borders.
