Football Connects – A Special Evening Between Ghana and Germany

Yesterday’s match between Ghana and Germany, embedded in the Football Day at the residence of the German Embassy in Accra, impressively demonstrated the power of football to bring people together, build bridges, and create shared experiences.

Already in the afternoon, the “Fan Park” created a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. Children and young people had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, train, and showcase their skills. Contributing to the programme were the German International School Accra, the Gerald Asamoah Football Association, the BVB International Academy Ghana, Football in Your Life, and the initiative Faces of Football led by Petra Landers. Together, they created a diverse and inspiring setting that combined talent development with meaningful intercultural exchange.

In the evening, the focus shifted to the match itself. In a fantastic atmosphere, numerous guests followed the game, which was marked throughout by enthusiasm, fairness, and mutual respect. The mood remained warm and welcoming, reflecting the special spirit of this German-Ghanaian football encounter.

The culinary side also added to the authentic stadium feeling: bratwurst in a bun and fries brought a taste of German football culture to Accra.

A special thank you goes to all colleagues and coaches who dedicated their time and energy to running the stations of the German International School Accra and the Academy. At the same time, it was clear how much they, too, enjoyed the shared evening.
