Hearts Connect – An Emotional Charity Gala of the Gerald Asamoah Foundation in Düsseldorf

Written on 18 November 2025

On Saturday, 15 November, the Gerald Asamoah Foundation hosted its annual GALA OF HEARTS at the impressive Seifenfabrik Dr. Thompson’s in Düsseldorf – an evening filled with warmth, gratitude, and deeply moving moments. Together, guests raised an outstanding €190,000, which was then rounded up to €200,000 by a private donor. A powerful sign of solidarity and support for children with severe heart conditions.

The evening was hosted by Patrice Bouédibéla, well known to many as the charismatic face of MTV Germany. With his warm, humorous, and confident presence, he guided guests through the programme and brought both emotion and elegance to the gala. Together with the organisation kinderherzen, he presented the foundation’s mission in Ghana – a journey that had taken place just one week earlier and once again demonstrated how precious every saved child’s heart truly is.

Musically, the gala was a celebration in itself: Joris touched the audience with his heartfelt performance of “Herz über Kopf”, Greta impressed with her emotional voice, and D’Selection filled the venue with high energy and vibrant rhythm.

Another highlight was the major auction led by Sandra Kuhn and foundation founder Gerald Asamoah, featuring exclusive and often priceless items that generated enthusiastic bidding and significantly contributed to the fundraising total. A special surprise moment came from Pearl of the musical Starlight Express, who – fittingly on roller skates – presented an extraordinary donation of €59,555, collected through this year’s cooperation between the musical and the foundation. The evening concluded with an energetic DJ set by Phil Fuldner, who brought everyone onto the dance floor.

Amidst this emotional atmosphere, a very special moment awaited Rainer Kropp-Kurta, Headmaster of the German International School Accra (GISA). Foundation Director Jens Conrad and founder Gerald Asamoah honoured him with the title “Heart Person 2025” – a personal award recognising his reliable and ongoing support of the foundation’s work in Accra, particularly his role in establishing a scholarship programme that has already enabled three children who underwent heart surgery to access education at GISA.

In his acceptance words, he deliberately included the entire school community:
“A great honour, joy, and responsibility: At the charity gala of the Gerald Asamoah Foundation for children with heart conditions, I was awarded the title ‘Heart Person 2025’. I am pleased to accept this honour personally, but very consciously also on behalf of the whole school community of the German International School Accra – our parents, team, and students. I also thank my family for their understanding and support.”

The Gala of Hearts once again demonstrated how lived humanity and international cooperation can build bridges – between Düsseldorf and Accra, between parents, medical teams, teachers, and children. It was an overwhelmingly emotional and wonderful evening that highlighted the importance of this work – and that it can only continue thanks to the dedication of many committed people. ❤️
