Historic Milestone at GISA: First Scholarship Students Admitted through the Excellence Scholarship Initiative

On March 10, 2025, the German International School Accra (GISA) celebrated a significant milestone: 13 new students, aged 8 to 13, were officially welcomed into the school community. They had successfully passed the selection process of the "Excellence Scholarship Initiative." This admission marks a historic step in GISA’s journey toward becoming a Begegnungsschule (school of encounter).
The festive enrollment ceremony was marked by a warm welcome from the school administration and the existing student body. A particularly touching moment was the integration of the new students through student mentors, who supported and accompanied them from the very beginning. Another highlight was the presentation of traditional German Schultüten – a gesture that delighted and surprised the new students.
An engaging dance performance rounded off the celebration, allowing the new students to integrate quickly and form their first friendships. The event reflected GISA’s core mission: to create an open-minded, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment.
Principal Rainer Kropp-Kurta expressed his deep gratitude for the support received from the German School Nairobi in Kenya. "We received the entire program, including all test templates, from our colleagues there – a wonderful example of exemplary collaboration among German international schools."
With this development, GISA continues to grow: While the school had only 72 students in the summer of 2023, its student body has now expanded to an impressive 127. The admission of the first scholarship students highlights the school’s positive development and sets a strong precedent for its future as a "Begegnungsschule" (school of encounter).
