Music as a Language Without Words
Written on 05 December 2025
Can music be a language of its own? And can it convey meaning even if you don’t understand the words?
These were the questions explored by the DaF students of Grades 7/8 together with students from the University of Potsdam during an exciting online exchange.
It quickly became clear: even though popular music styles from the two countries can differ greatly, the intention behind a song can still be felt. Melody, rhythm, and mood can bridge language barriers, bringing emotions, stories, and atmospheres to life.
Music shows us that sometimes words aren’t necessary to be understood. It connects, inspires, and opens doors — across all languages.
