Music Brings People Together – A Wonderful Concert Evening
Barely had the final notes of the school musical faded away when the German International School Accra hosted its next musical highlight. On 10 June 2026, the newly renovated multifunctional hall was transformed into a concert venue, providing students and guest musicians with a stage for an inspiring and diverse evening of music.
Under the title “(Not only) Classical Concert”, young performers presented a varied programme ranging from works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven and Frédéric Chopin to contemporary pieces and popular songs. The hall was filled to capacity with family members, teachers, students and music enthusiasts, all of whom followed the performances attentively and rewarded every contribution with warm applause and genuine appreciation.
Alongside talented musicians from the GISA community, several guest performers enriched the evening. Their participation was made possible through the support of dedicated instrumental teachers who encouraged their students to share their musical achievements with a wider audience. Special thanks go to James Bamfo, Ivan Klutse, Ruth Amoo and Isaac Okpoti-Paulo, whose commitment helped make the concert a memorable success.
Particular recognition is due to the young pianist Caleb Sagoe, who not only captivated the audience with impressive solo performances but also served as an outstanding accompanist throughout the evening. Demonstrating remarkable musical maturity and virtuosity, he brought out the full expressive potential of the school piano and contributed significantly to the concert’s special atmosphere.
“Music needs opportunities, audiences and shared experiences,” said music teacher Jakob Platzek, who organised the event. “For young musicians in particular, performing in front of an audience is invaluable. It provides motivation for the many hours of practice and demonstrates how music can connect people across ages, schools and cultural backgrounds.”
The evening concluded on a high note with a performance by the GISA School Band. Despite having had only limited rehearsal time together, the students confidently presented three songs and provided a fitting finale to a memorable concert. Following the final applause, the performers enjoyed a well-deserved refreshment generously provided by Facility Manager Albert.
The school community extends its sincere gratitude to all performers, guests and supporters. The concert was a wonderful reminder of the talent, dedication and enthusiasm for music that exists both within GISA and beyond—and of how every single note contributes to creating a truly special sense of community.
