Excellence Scholarship Programme 2027: Opening Opportunities, Supporting Potential

With the Excellence Scholarship Programme (ESP), the German International School Accra is once again offering high-achieving and motivated children in Ghana the opportunity to become part of the GISA school community. The programme is open to children aged 9 to 11 who meet both the academic and financial criteria.

The ESP is designed to open up new educational opportunities and provide talented young people with a long-term perspective. Successful applicants receive a scholarship covering 83% of the regular tuition fees, worth up to GHS 120,000 per year. Families contribute the remaining 17% of the tuition fees as well as a one-time registration fee of €200.

An important part of the programme is language learning. Scholarship students begin a free intensive German language course on 11 January 2027, preparing them for their further education at GISA. Their educational pathway at GISA offers a route towards German qualifications and further study opportunities in Germany.

The Excellence Scholarship Programme is about more than financial support. We are looking for children who are curious, eager to learn, ambitious and ready to contribute actively to an international school community. At GISA, individual support and holistic education are combined with a German curriculum complemented by Cambridge assessments and a multicultural learning environment.

Applications for the new ESP intake close on 16 October 2026. After the applications have been reviewed, selected candidates will be invited to an Assessment Center on 7 November 2026. Successful candidates will then have the opportunity to experience school life at GISA during Trial Days in the first week of December. The intensive German language course begins on 11 January 2027.
