The Start of Our School Musical: Encanto
This year, our school musical is stepping into the magical world of AnigyeΙ / Encanto β a word that means joy. Inspired by the story of the Madrigal family, students explore themes such as family, identity, teamwork, and believing in their own unique gifts. Just like in the story, every child plays an important role in bringing the magic to life.
To make this possible, students work in different teams where they not only prepare the performance but also develop valuable skills.
The acting team learns how to express emotions, speak clearly on stage, and work together to tell the story. Students practice character development, stage presence, and confidence.
The singing and music team rehearses the songs from Encanto, focusing on rhythm, melody, and singing together as a group. They learn how music strengthens emotions and storytelling in a musical.
The dance and choreography team works on movement, rhythm, and coordination. Students learn how to express emotions and stories through dance while also developing discipline, focus, and teamwork.
The stage and decoration team designs and builds the magical setting of the village. They develop creativity and planning skills while learning how visual elements help bring a story to life on stage.
The technical team works with graphic design (for example using Canva), lighting, sound, and visual effects. They learn how technology supports a performance and helps create the magical atmosphere of a musical.
The organization and catering team prepares posters, invitations, tickets, and communication with parents. They also make sure the teams are well supported during rehearsals and performances. Through this work, students develop planning skills, responsibility, and teamwork behind the scenes.
Through this project, students discover that a musical is much more than acting on stage. It is a collaboration where every talent matters and where, together, they create something truly magical.
The performances of the musical will take place on 4 and 5 June at 6:00 pm at the German International School Accra.
