Triple Success for GISA: Campus School Status, Cambridge Recognition – and an International Education Award!

Written on 30 June 2025

What a remarkable milestone for GISA! Just weeks after being officially recognized as a Campus School by the University of Potsdam, Friday, June 27, 2025, brought two more reasons to celebrate – both highlighting the school’s dynamic international profile and educational excellence.

Cambridge Honours GISA at British High Commission Reception

Representing school leadership and the Cambridge department, teacher Russell Adu Apaw attended a prestigious reception hosted by the British High Commission. The event celebrated outstanding students and schools for their performance in the IGCSE, O- and A-Level examinations – and acknowledged GISA’s strong commitment to the Cambridge curriculum.

Keynote speakers included:

  • Nii Dodoo Dodoo, Country Director for Cambridge Schools in Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon
  • Mrs. Efua Asiedu, Senior Manager at Cambridge West Africa International
  • H.E. Mr. Keith McMahon, MBE, Chargé d’affaires at the British High Commission in Ghana

GISA received warm congratulations for the successful implementation of Cambridge standards and for the performance of its first student cohort in the Cambridge Checkpoint exams. In discussions with officials from the British Council – one of GISA’s close partners – ideas were exchanged on how to further strengthen the Cambridge pathway at the school. One clear goal: becoming an accredited IGCSE, O- and A-Level exam centre.

GISA Wins Premier International Education Leadership Award 2025

On the same day, GISA’s Head of School, Rainer Kropp-Kurta, accepted the Premier International Education Leadership Award at a gala event at the Accra Marriott Hotel. The school was named Winner of Excellence in Multilingual and Cross-Cultural Education – a powerful affirmation of GISA’s commitment to internationalism, inclusion, and language learning.

The award was presented by Mr. Eric Otoo, Board Chair of Tesah Capital and former CEO of the Ghana Amalgamated Trust (GAT), during a ceremony hosted by the Governance & Business Boardroom (TGBB) – a premier global platform for leadership, governance, and educational excellence.

A Team Effort – and a Path Forward

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it directly reflects the focus of GISA’s school development over the past two years: a bilingual model from Kindergarten through Secondary School, trilingual with French; a new mission statement – "Building Bridges" – capturing our commitment to openness and diversity; and strong enrollment growth of 76.4% in just two years!

Head of School Rainer Kropp-Kurta summed it up:
“We are grateful for the recognition, but we won’t rest on our laurels. Our goal is to continue building the best possible school – every single day.”
