Discovering Germany – Learning with Creativity and Enthusiasm

Over the past two weeks, Germany has been at the center of our lessons. The students embarked on an exciting journey through different German cities while exploring a variety of interesting superlatives and special features. From impressive landmarks in Berlin and cultural highlights such as the Deutsches Museum in Munich to fascinating facts about Frankfurt am Main, the learners discovered Germany from many different perspectives.

At the same time, the topic was closely connected to language learning. The students practiced the grammatical rules for forming comparatives and superlatives and also worked on the correct use of years and dates in German. In this way, linguistic skills were combined with cultural and geographical knowledge.

To deepen and creatively process what they learned, the DaF students began designing thematic lapbooks. With great enthusiasm, they are collecting information, pictures, and short texts on various topics related to Germany. The lapbooks give the learners the opportunity to present their findings in an individual, visual, and creative way.

In the coming lessons, the students will continue developing their lapbooks before presenting them to one another, allowing them to learn from each other’s work and ideas. Afterwards, the finished projects will be displayed within the school community — a wonderful opportunity for everyone to discover the diversity of Germany through the eyes of our learners.
