Journey into the salt

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, students from German International School Accra, grades 5 to 7, embarked on an exciting excursion to Panbros Salt Industry in Weija.

The main objectives of the trip were to:
✅ Observe the different stages of salt production.
✅ Learn about the history and significance of salt mining in the region.
✅ Explore the environmental impact of salt production.

During the 90-minute tour, students visited various sections of the salt production facility—from the extraction site to the final processing stage. They had the opportunity to ask questions, touch raw salt, and understand the difference between unrefined crystal salt and fine powdered salt. As a generous gesture, Panbros Salt Industry gifted our school one pack of unrefined crystal salt and one bag of fine powdered salt.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Baah Kwadwo, our knowledgeable tour guide and quality control officer at the industry, for his insightful explanations. We also appreciate the management of Panbros Salt Industry for their warm hospitality. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to Alex, Patrick, Theo, Rieke, and Russell, who played a crucial role in making this excursion a success. It was an educational and exciting day for all!
