One camera was installed at the entrance and one inside the Swiss Club.
Kindergarten and Nursery:
This week, we have had a lot going on in the nursery again. We celebrated a 2nd birthday. We had delicious cake and sang “Happy Birthday”. On Wednesday, the GISA Cup was on the agenda - we watched the football matches and cheered loudly for the various teams. On Thursday, we had a water day where everyone had lots of fun splashing around. With buckets, cups and a water slide, the children were able to play and experiment with water to their hearts' content.
There was a lot going on in our kindergarten this week. We talked about our vacations and made our own shoes, which we used to practise tying a bow. At the school children's GISA Cup, we had the important task of cheering on the players and had a lot of fun watching them. During learning time, we sang various songs in music and accompanied them rhythmically with our instruments. In math, the children recognized the different number pictures, counted together and matched beads. With the help of various error pictures, we practiced describing pictures, finding and naming errors and repeating the colors at the same time. We also talked about our vacations in DaZ/DaF. We also got to know different instruments and named them with the appropriate articles. Afterwards we thought about what our favorite instrument is. Friday was finally our beloved toy day again. The children brought various games and toys from home, showed them to their friends and played with them.
Primary school:
This week there was a lot of exciting news and events in class 1/2. We were able to welcome two new children to our class - welcome! We are looking forward to a wonderful time together. In English class, the children learnt the months and made a year wheel. The new vocabulary was consolidated with lots of playful activities. You are welcome to ask your child about this at home or have them spell out the months. There have also been some changes in the support groups to provide the children with even more targeted support. Our projects are picking up speed: Preparations for the big GISA musical have begun - an exciting time for everyone involved! There was also plenty of sporting action: the GISA Cup children's tournament took place on Wednesday, with many children in the class taking part enthusiastically. A very special highlight was the visit from a world boxing champion. He talked to the children about perseverance and big goals and even volunteered as a sparring partner - an unforgettable experience! There is also a new addition to the timetable: Mr Bergfeld is the new music teacher. We are delighted to have him on board and are looking forward to many musical lessons. Last but not least, the parents' consultation days have started this week. They offer a valuable opportunity to discuss the children's learning progress and development. There will be further appointments in the coming weeks.
Due to illness, the report for class 3/4 unfortunately has to be cancelled.
Secondary school:
A warm welcome to four new students. We hope you have had a good start. The new timetables are active. Please bear this in mind when preparing and planning for the next school day. All products were pitched in an interdisciplinary project (IT, ethics). The individual groups also had the opportunity to invest in other projects if they liked the product and thought it would sell well. The aim of this project was to give us a better feel for product development, advertising, sales, market economy and investment. David got the biggest investment with ‘Mosquito Mayhem’, a sustainable spray against mosquitoes with a lavender odour. However, it must be mentioned that all products have been well developed. In German, we are currently transforming into dubbing actors. A scene from the film ‘Madagascar’ was chosen. The texts are being listened to and written down. The soundscape is being planned. Then everything is recorded and edited together.
This week, the seventh-graders in German were finally able to start reading a modern classic for young people: ‘Holes - The Secrets of Green Lake’ by American author Louis Sachar. The story is about the boy Stanley Yelnats, who is wrongly convicted of theft and sent to the fictitious Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention centre in Texas, where the boys have to dig holes in the desert sand every day. Of course, many exciting and unexpected things happen... The pupils have so far discussed Stanley's family situation and his admission to the camp, among other things, and processed his alleged ‘offence’ in a live TV sensation report. In social studies, there was a serious and lively discussion about the value of democracy and how even seventh-graders are personally affected by political decisions, such as the reintroduction of compulsory military service, freedom of travel in Europe or the possible criminal responsibility of children.
The DaF class at secondary level (the motivated students in years 5, 6 and 7) took their first steps in the German language. The first week included greetings, introductions and goodbyes, as well as counting, numbers from 0-1000 and vocabulary in maths and football. In addition to writing various profiles and creating their own maths problems for their classmates, the DaF group wrote their first learning objective test on Friday.
