Newsletter 22.03.2024

Dear parents,
Dear colleagues,
Dear students,

After the usual newsletter had to be canceled last week due to the internet problems in Ghana, here is the latest news from the school, just in time for the Easter vacations!

On Tuesday, all class representatives and parent representatives were invited to the presentation of the school's new vision and mission. The children present this content to their classmates in the class council. The new vision is "Building bridges", after all, our school connects people, cultures, languages, nursery through to secondary school and some obstacles are also bridged in learning.

In addition, the new reminder slip was presented in case rules are broken. If necessary, you will also receive one to sign at home.

We were delighted to be invited to the Swiss residence to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Chance for Children". We are proud of our long-standing partnership with CfC and wish them all the best for the next 25 years.

After the Easter vacations, on Tuesday or Wednesday, April 9/10, 2024, Eid al Fitr is expected to take place. Eid is usually declared a public holiday by the government. However, this usually happens spontaneously. We would therefore like to point out that DISA will remain closed on this day following the government's announcement. We will endeavor to provide you with more information as soon as possible.

Our soccer tournament, GISA Cup, will take place on May 5. If you would like to participate with your company or institution, you can register with Patrick Blanke-Schelle until Sunday, April 14. Of course, we would also like to invite you and your family and friends to experience a great day at DISA. In addition to the soccer matches, there will also be food and drink as well as fun for the children. More information will follow after the Easter break.

Kindergarten and nursery:

The week got off to an artistic start in the nursery, with wooden eggs being painted with finger paints. We also played "Hopp, little bunny" (circle game).

The week ended with an Easter breakfast with the kindergarten and an egg nest hunt. The kindergarten worked on its Easter preparations. Easter baskets were made and Easter eggs were dyed.

On the last day before the vacations, we had an Easter breakfast together with the nursery and kindergarten. The Easter bunny came by and hid the Easter baskets with cookies. After an exciting search, all the children had a happy start to the Easter vacations.

Primary school:

The last week of school was a very varied one for class 1/2. From artistic aspects, such as painting chairs and making Easter baskets, we moved on to a sporting event: a visit to the stadium to cheer on the heptathlon and learn about the individual disciplines. In math lessons, the class studied the properties of geometric surfaces. Creative writing is constantly being practiced and more and more children are motivated to write their own stories and present them to the class. You are welcome to read them at home at

A week filled with Easter activities, a German and a math test and, to top it all off, a trip to the African Games lie behind Class 3/4. What a way to end the Easter vacations! A visit from the Easter Bunny on Friday rounded off the week and ensured a great start to the vacations. Behind the children of class 3/4 lie exciting and varied weeks and, with joy, we now wish them a relaxing and well-deserved vacation.

Secondary school:

The week began with full vigor for Classes 5 and 6 as we turned our attention to our work project in Biology. We worked together to create a compost that will enable us to produce high quality soil for growing crops. It was fascinating to see how the students enthusiastically got stuck in and learned how organic waste can be transformed into valuable nutrients.

Preparations for the upcoming math test were the focus of our lessons. Classes 5 and 6 worked intensively on the various topics, reviewed important concepts and solved numerous exercises in order to best prepare for the exam on Thursday.

A highlight of the week was our trip to the Africa Games. We had the opportunity to witness the women's heptathlon up close and were inspired by the incredible performance of the athletes. It was a valuable experience for the students, which not only gave them an insight into athletic competition, but also taught them cultural aspects and fair play values.

The day of the math test had arrived. After intensive preparation and concentration in the previous days, the students confidently stepped up to prove their knowledge.

A special highlight at the end of the week was a visit from the Easter bunny. The children were delighted with the little surprises and enjoyed celebrating together and looking forward to the upcoming Easter vacations. It was a wonderful end to an eventful and educational week.

Class 5/6 wish everyone a happy vacation, a blessed Easter with their families and a Happy Eid al-Fitr.
