Newsletter 14.06.2024
For the penultimate time, we are looking back on another eventful week with this newsletter. Due to the national holiday Eid Ul Adha, next Monday, 17.06.2024, there is no school.
Our 2023/24 yearbook is now available from Agnithur in the secretariat for 180 GHC.
Last night our school put on an incredible show with the musical "Rapunzel" and it was absolutely stunning! The Goethe-Institut was full of excited children, proud parents and friends of the German International School Accra, all eager to see how the magic would unfold on stage. "Rapunzel" was a great success and showed just how talented our school is. From the acting, singing and dancing to the fantastic lights and sets, it was an unforgettable evening.
Years 5 and 6 organized a science fair for all children from kindergarten to fourth grade. The topics were forces, liquids and gases, swimming and sinking, and electricity. Years 5 and 6 planned and prepared all the experiments. There was a lot of excitement in the science lab, a lot of fun and a lot of learning.
We are pleased to announce that the North Ridge Café will be providing lunch for our students during the last week of school and during the Lost in Space summer camp. If all goes well, they will continue to provide our lunches next year. The lunch organization will continue as with the Paloma Hotel (same numbers and payments can be made on Friday and Monday morning). If your child does not eat at the Paloma but would like to eat at the North Ridge Café, please contact Sara Debackere. We thank the North Ridge Café and wish you a good start with us.

We would like to watch football twice with the whole school community and cheer on Germany or your favorite team. On Wednesday, 19.06.2024 at 4 pm against Hungary and on Sunday, 23.06.2024 at 6 pm against Switzerland, both at the Swiss Club. Save the date - Both screenings are open to members of our school community and their friends. Come along and celebrate a football festival with our Hungarian and Swiss friends! A great atmosphere is guaranteed, and there will also be typical Hungarian snacks and drinks.
We would also like to thank the Kempinski Hotel Accra for supporting our campaign to acquire new Ipads for the primary school with attractive vouchers, which will be auctioned off at the public viewings.
Are you ready for an extraordinary adventure and do you want to have fun at our camp? Join us on a journey at our "Lost in Space" summer camp! From June 24 to 28, we'll embark on a universe full of fun, exploration and discovery. Children aged 3 to 12 are welcome to join us on this adventure! Places are limited, so reserve a place for your child at our "Lost in Space" summer camp and register by emailing
As every year, the school would like to collect clothes and donate them to Chance For Children. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of many children by providing them with the clothing they need to stay healthy and comfortable. Let's come together and support Chance for Children in their mission to make a positive impact on our community. Donate your clothing in a box in the security office by June 20. Thank you in advance for your help!

On Tuesday, our school trip to Aburi will take place in the botanical garden. Nature, picnic, sports games, chess, bracelet and necklace making activities promise a fun and exciting day!
On Friday, the last day of school before the summer vacation, we want to start with a joint breakfast at school (grades 3/4 and 5/6). We would be delighted to receive breakfast contributions from all pupils. You will receive information about this in the class chats.
Kindergarten and Nursery:
Last week we made some great presents for our dads for Father's Day in the nursery! We also cut up fresh pineapple and watermelon and then mixed them to make delicious ice cream. We enjoyed the fruit ice cream on Friday.
The last days before the vacations have also begun at the kindergarten. This week, we concentrated on the final preparations in kindergarten and worked hard to make farewell and Father's Day presents. On Friday, we took part in the class 5/6 experiment day. We made volcanoes out of plastic bottles and plasticine. The Year 5/6 pupils then showed us how the volcano erupted. In the second experiment, we stuck a balloon to a straw that was attached to a string. The balloon moved along the string as the air escaped. This was very interesting for us and a lot of fun. In the coming week, we will use the last few days to tidy up the groups, as our rooms will be rebuilt and redesigned during the vacations. We are already very excited about the result.
Primary school:
An exciting week is coming to an end for class 1/2. We finally received the reply letters from Cologne, which we had been longing for. There was also a lot going on overall: the dress rehearsal of the musical on Tuesday and then the performance on Thursday evening ensured excitement and long school days. The enthusiasm was great and everyone was very proud of the result. The varied weekly program continued on Friday with the exciting science fair. The children enjoyed the experiments, which were led by class 5/6. And next week it continues: we are looking forward to the school sleepover! The children are welcome to bring their board games - finally we have time to play and read together in peace.
Class 3/4 put their hearts into the musical this week. The dress rehearsal and finally the performances were an incredible success for all the children. The pride of being able to take part in such a project was unbelievable. The pottery from the Happy Arts Academy was brought in this week and was allowed to be taken home, as were the small aquariums and underwater landscapes. The Science Fair on Friday with a final volcanic eruption rounded off an eventful and active week in grand style.
Secondary school:
Class 5/6 prepared intensively for two events this week. Firstly, the musical took place at the Goethe Institute and secondly, class 5/6 organized a Science Fair for the elementary school. The Science Fair was a great success and a good opportunity for class 5/6 to present their knowledge and work. The final party is coming up this weekend and the European Championships in Germany are also starting. Next week will be the last week of school with a field trip and the end of year party. We would also like to have breakfast together on the last day of school and review the great school year. The class 5/6 wishes you a nice long weekend and a wonderful holiday.
