2024 05 31 Paloma June MenuWe are pleased to announce that the North Ridge Café will be providing lunch for our students during the last week of school and during the Lost in Space summer camp. If all goes well, they will continue to provide our lunches next year. The lunch organization will continue as with the Paloma Hotel (same numbers and payments can be made on Friday and Monday morning). If your child does not eat at the Paloma but would like to eat at the North Ridge Café, please contact Sara Debackere. We thank the North Ridge Café and wish you a good start with us.

Furthermore, on behalf of the entire school community, we would like to express our sincere thanks for the excellent catering provided by the Paloma Catering team. The professionalism of your team was evident in every aspect of the service. The staff were polite, attentive and efficient and ensured that everything ran smoothly and all students were well catered for. It was a pleasure working with you and we look forward to working with you again on future events.

DSC2173This Monday, we dealt with the importance of thorough hand washing at the daycare center and school. Many thanks again to SauberZauber from the WEPA Foundation.

As every year, the school would like to collect clothes and donate them to Chance For Children. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of many children by providing them with the clothing they need to stay healthy and comfortable. Let's come together and support Chance for Children in their mission to make a positive impact on our community. Donate your clothing in a box in the security office by June 20. Thank you in advance for your help!

As part of the GISA family, we would like to invite you to take part in our betting round for Euro 24. The betting stake is 50 GHC for the entire tournament and can be paid to Agnethur or Patrick. At the end of the tournament, the stake will be paid out to the first three places.

Here's to a great European Championship with lots of goals. https://www.kicktipp.de/gisa-em-24/mitgliedwerden?elid=FOTUAXIJ

Kindergarten and Nursery:

34b453ba 7bde 47f1 865b bcd568ff02c1Last week, we started with the farm theme in the nursery. To start with, we got to know various farm animals and imitated their sounds. We also stuck absorbent cotton on sheep and sang the song 'Old McDonald had a Farm'. We also celebrated two birthdays.

In kindergarten, we started with the topic “The body”. After a brief introduction, we drew our own person and named the different body parts and features. We also cut out different facial features and put them together to create a “creative face”, which resulted in funny and interesting pictures. During learning time, the last children carried out the “SauberZauber” experiment and had a lot of fun. We learned word cards about the different body parts and assigned cut-out body parts to a body and stuck them on. On Friday morning we had a little party, which we then moved outside to enjoy our water day to the full. Next week, we would like to focus on the topic of “senses”. On Friday, June 6, we are going on a trip to the Aburi Garden.

Primary school:

We had a lot of visitors this week: firstly, a guest student who will be joining our class in the new school year. He quickly made friends and of course received a letter straight from the class post. We also had a guest trainee who used to be a student in class 1/2 herself and could still remember her old seat and her old school experience at GISA. We were also visited by the school photographer and the Sauberzauber team. Currently, the second grade children are working on the topic of lengths, while the first graders are working on combinatorics and probability. The classics, creative writing activities, read-aloud times and chess are all enjoyed after work. So everyone is always busy with different work assignments at their level.

Class 3/4 started an entertaining and educational week with the Sauberzauber. Two exams were written in English and Science and preparations for next week's German and math tests are also in full swing. Just before the vacations, heads are buzzing and smoke is rising! With two rehearsals at the Goethe-Institut, next week will be dominated by musical preparations as well as exams. Here, too, we are on the home straight! Class 3/4 will be led by Mrs. Laura Lützeler as class teacher next year. The children already know her from their math lessons and are looking forward to it!

Secondary school:

The school year is coming to an end and so the last grades for the school year 23/24 still have to be determined. This week, tests took place in English as well as in Science and History. In addition to the last exams, work is continuing on the musical so that the premiere on June 13 at the Goethe Institute will be a complete success. In addition, numerous parent meetings took place this week to work together with the parents on the development of the students. We are looking forward to the coming weekend.
