State visit to GISA
Former Federal President Christian Wulff represented the Federal Republic of Germany at the inauguration of the new Ghanaian President John Mahama on Constitution Day. The former head of state paid a visit to the German International School Accra on the occasion of this trip.
Wulff was welcomed by the artists of the Universal Wonderful Street Academy and was even persuaded to dance. In a round of talks with representatives of the school board, parents and embassy representatives, staff and the school management, the remarkable development of the school and the challenges ahead were discussed. Headmaster Rainer Kropp-Kurta was able to report on the significant increase in pupil numbers and the cooperation with NGOs, universities and educational institutions and the function of building bridges. Christian Wulff proved to be an attentive listener, and not just when it came to the situation regarding promotion as a German school abroad. He also gave interesting insights into his still very active fields of activity ‘off duty’.
After a visit to the newly renovated daycare centre and further discussions with teachers and head of kindergarten Evans Rudi Boakye, the politician answered questions from the group of students in grades 1 to 7. The children and young people really quizzed Wulff: from the challenges of his time in office to his hobbies and favourite foods, they were eager to find out more. The former Federal President patiently answered all the questions and wanted to know a few things from the pupils. Christian Wulff summed up his visit to a school ‘that you like to go to’ very positively.
