Mothers and fathers - what could be more important!
Class 3/4 invested a lot of physical effort, sweat and overcoming their feelings of disgust in making clay to form hearts for their parents to celebrate Mother's Day and German Father's Day.
Dry local clay rolls, known locally as “hyile”, had to be ground into a fine powder with stones. This was then mixed with a little water to produce moldable clay. The correct ratio of powder and water was crucial and was explored by the children through trial and error.
After shaping hearts for their parents, there was no stopping them and the leftover clay was turned into bowls, letters, plates and so on...
Class 3/4 will also be pursuing the topic of clay in the coming weeks. They are also planning a workshop outside the home. More pictures of our pottery will follow... stay tuned!
