Checkpoint Exams – A Milestone for Our Cambridge Students

This week marked an important milestone at the German International School Accra (GISA), as our students in the Cambridge section successfully completed their first series of Cambridge Checkpoint exams. The week began with the English paper on Monday, followed by Mathematics on Wednesday, and Science on Thursday.

For many of our students, this was a completely new experience – and they rose to the challenge with confidence and focus. The Cambridge teachers were deeply impressed by the students’ discipline, commitment, and preparation. An external examiner even remarked:

“Your students are calm and respectful” – a wonderful compliment that reflects their dedication and positive attitude.

We are particularly pleased that, after many years, this was the first full round of Checkpoint exams held again at our school – a sign of GISA’s growing openness and permeability toward both national and international educational pathways.

A key part of this development is the Cambridge International Curriculum, which is taught in over 10,000 schools across more than 160 countries. It provides a well-rounded, globally recognized education focused on academic excellence, critical thinking, and real-world application – while remaining adaptable to local contexts and other educational systems.

At GISA, the Cambridge programme is thoughtfully integrated with the German curriculum, creating high-quality educational pathways for diverse learner profiles – rooted in the German system, open to the world.

We are proud of our students – and of the dedicated teachers who guide them along this path!
