Newsletter 08.08.2024
Since Tuesday, the GISA team has been in intensive preparations for the new 2024/25 school year. New and familiar colleagues got to know each other, and there was also a valuable workshop on child endangerment and mindfulness with psychologist Daniela Nicol from mind matters and a briefing on fire safety by firefighters Gabriel Biney and Sintim Osei. Other focal points included the implementation of the Cambridge standards, the new individual support program for primary school children and project-based learning in the all-day school. The highly attractive project offers on the subject of "Made in Germany" can be found here or on the notice board from Monday. The children can then choose a project according to their inclination and in the primary and secondary school across all year groups. If you are interested in contributing your expertise to individual projects, even if only selectively, you are cordially invited to do so. One project group would be particularly pleased to receive (specialist) support in the area of German cars for the "German Cars" project. They are looking for someone (preferably with their own car) who can 1) explain car components (German and/or English) or 2) practice the process of changing tires or 3) build soapboxes and has the time and inclination to get involved in the project work.
We are looking forward to an exciting start on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 8 a.m. on our basketball court with a school year opening ceremony.
Afterwards, all parents are cordially invited to the Swiss Club for coffee, which is a good opportunity to get to know each other.
When your child starts first grade, you are welcome to get and fill a school cone if you are familiar with this custom or have the opportunity to do so. All pupils should bring their school bag with them on the first day of school, containing a filled pencil case, scissors and a glue stick. Please refer to the material lists in the appendix. Your child will need sports equipment and swimming gear for PE lessons.
Students receive their timetable in the first week of school.
Lessons end at 2.50 p.m. for all pupils in Years 1 - 6 from the first day of school, and at 3.40 p.m. for Year 7.
During the vacations, Irina Wehmann and her team lovingly renovated and redesigned the kindergarten and nursery rooms. On Monday, the children can look forward to new, dreamlike rooms and explore everything. Interested parents are invited to marvel at our new rooms on Monday afternoon from 3 pm. For those who can't make it in person, there will also be a video of the new rooms online from Monday afternoon.
We have a variety of study groups. Ms. Debackere will present and hand out the offers to you during the first week of school. If you have any questions about the individual offers, please contact Sara Debackere:
