Newsletter 12.04.2024
After a hopefully nice, exciting and relaxing Easter break, we have now completed the first week of school, including the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
In the first week of the Easter vacations, the festival camp took place at the school. We had another enthusiastic group of children from inside and outside our school. Everything revolved around music: the children formed their own bands, made different instruments and their own outfits and much more. Fortunately, we had another day on Wednesday to relax in the swimming pool, but on Thursday it was all about their big show. The parents were amazed at the many talents and the children had a great time!
Starting this week, we will be working on the musical "Tangled", which is based on the story of Rapunzel, on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Each child starts in a workshop of their choice: dancing, singing, acting, building costumes and sets or lighting and sound. In the last week before the school vacations, friends and family can come and watch the performance of the musical - it's going to be great!
Tomorrow, Saturday, April 13, 2024, the next Food Truck Festival will take place on our school grounds. Experience a day of cultural exchange, family bonding and international flavors. From teenagers showcasing their traditions, to children performing small miracles, to parents sampling a wide variety of dishes, this is a trip not to be missed! There is a bouncy castle, live screen printing, mini golf, a mini pool and many more activities to enjoy with your children.
The safety aspect with regard to the sharp-edged tiles in the Tesano Sports Club is still in place. We have been informed that Tesano is working on the repair and price proposals for the renovation costs have been obtained. We are therefore hopeful that we will be able to resume our weekly swimming lessons at Tesano Sports Club in a few weeks' time, at the latest after the summer vacations.
Until then, we want to offer your children swimming lessons every two weeks. For this we would move to the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
From now on, swimming lessons will take place every other week at the usual swimming time.
Class 1/2 has swimming lessons on 19.04., 03.05., 24.05., 07.06. and 21.06.
Class 3/4 has swimming lessons on 18.04., 02.05., 23.05., 06.06. and 20.06.
Class 5/6 has swimming lessons on 18.04., 08.05., 22.05., 05.06. and 19.06.

Enclosed you will find the menu for April from the Paloma Hotel. There are 2 days when the kindergarten has a different menu because our class representatives have chosen a different dish.
Kindergarten and Nursery:
The nursery has started a new topic this week with the element of water. Over the next few days, various water areas will be set up and we will be practising filling and emptying various objects such as buckets and cups. We also train gross and fine motor skills as well as eye-hand coordination. In addition, we teach the children that water is an essential element of life for humans, animals and plants. There is also a lot of splashing around and trying things out, so that the fun factor is not neglected, which is why we ask the children to bring a change of clothes. This week, a new child has started settling into the nursery. The mouse group is very happy about the new addition. Finally, we played a circle game with colors, the children not only got to know new colors, but also had a lot of fun.
The kindergarten started with a storytelling circle where the children shared exciting stories about their Easter vacation. In addition, the children became artistically active by processing the experiences of their Easter vacation into pictures. Beautiful and colorful works were created. This week we were once again active in the GISA exercise room, playing "the floor is lava" with the children. We also set up an obstacle course, which the sharks and elephants mastered with flying colors. We are already looking forward to the next time in the movement room. Finally, we had our toy day, the children brought their favorite toys, swapped them with each other and played and laughed together. We will start next week with the topic of careers in kindergarten.
Primary School:
Class 1/2 started this week fresh and well rested after the Easter break. First of all, of course, the vacation experiences had to be processed and active listening was practiced: Can you remember three things your friend told you? In Science, a collection of insects was created and closely observed: How many legs do the insects have? The children had a lot of fun. Don't worry: all the insects were released again. In Geometry, the work on bodies and surfaces continued. How can the properties of the different bodies and surfaces be described? Does the body roll or can it be tilted or stacked? How many corners and edges does the body have? In ethics, the children reflected on their places of well-being and learned the word "security".
Back from the vacations, Class 3/4 were greeted by a renovated and spruced-up classroom with cheerful colors to create a feel-good atmosphere for learning, working and living. In class, the math work was corrected and the new topic was started. In German, Class 3 also got their work back! In English lessons this week, students finished reading "Mouse, snake, bird, wild" by David Almond. Work on the reading will continue over the next few weeks. On Wednesday, some of the children in class 3/4 were able to show off their artistic talent again by painting the remaining chairs. And they created some great chairs! Over the next few weeks, some children will have the chance to work on a chair every Wednesday. Everyone will use the public holiday on Thursday for a break and then start again on Friday, full of energy. The children in class 3/4 are already looking forward to swimming next week.
Secondary School:
All students have made the most of the vacations and have started the new school week with renewed motivation. The GISA classes are now rehearsing on Mondays and Tuesdays for the upcoming musical in June. Classes 5/6 are having a lot of fun rehearsing and are looking forward to the next sessions. In addition to the preparations for the musical, the pupils started with new topics in the individual subjects. In German lessons, the first drafts and ideas for a pen friendship with a 6th grade class in Germany were prepared. Following their math work, Year 5/6 have completed the topic of geometry and are now starting on decimals and quantities. In English, the pupils are working on the topic of spelling. In Biology and HTW, project work is currently underway with a view to the GISA Cup. In addition to the school highlights, the Eid al-Fitr festival was discussed with the pupils before it was celebrated on Thursday as part of the national holiday. It gave us the opportunity to celebrate the end of the fasting month of Ramadan together with our Muslim classmates.
