Project week ` Made in Ghana`
From 04.03.2024 to 08.03.2024 our project week on the topic "Made in Ghana" took place. During this week, the students got to know some of the country's local products (chocolate, shea butter and fabric) and organized their own small market with the results of their projects.
The "Made in Ghana" project week got off to a musical start in the crèche, with the children and teachers clapping, dancing and singing to the rhythms of the drum. In the kindergarten the week began with making and painting the Ghanaian flag. The whole school delved into the subject of Independence Day and Fairtrade, a good introduction for the activities that would follow the rest of the week.
The following days we were visited by several interesting partners: The Cocoa Institute who informed the kindergarten and class 1/2 about the history and development of the cocoa bean. The company `57 Chocolate` came by for a chocolate tasting and helped us make our own chocolate. Class 3/4 had a workshop on shea butter and made their own personal shea butter. Class 5/6 had a visit from Joyce of Friskyness, who is also a former student of our school. They focused on creating their own foam design and printed them on a thrifted cloth. The rest of the week they worked hard to make their own tote bags to sell at the market.
The project week ended with the preparations of the market where we showcased our chocolate, shea butter and beautiful bags. During the Monday ritual on 11.03.2024, the children shared their experiences and results with their parents and supporters. It was a great week with everyone involved!
