Papermaking project
Written on 27 September 2024
In the paper printing project, we looked at the wasp nests (the first paper producers) and made the last sheets of paper. While the last sheets of paper were drying, we turned our attention to parchment as a writing medium. The children were able to cut up a sheepskin, which they clearly enjoyed. The quills were then used again on the small pieces of parchment. In the project, we removed the dried sheets of paper from the cloth, ironed them, cut them to size and started printing. The attempt to create our own printing letters failed due to the strength of the linoleum and the softness of the foam rubber. So we used the prefabricated letters from the school printing set.
