How do you get to the heart of an argument?

Written on 30 May 2025

Today the seventh graders learned about argumentation: How do you get to the heart of an argument? And how do you convince others of your opinion?

After an introductory part in which the pupils learned about the three-step structure of a good argument, consolidated it in a matching game and formulated arguments themselves, there was even more practice: in teams of two, the task was now to convince their partner of interesting and bizarre topics with apt arguments: Why should homework be abolished? And why are unicorns the best pets?

Why all this? Because good argumentation is not only important for essays, but also in everyday life: when discussing with friends, convincing others in projects or later in professional life. Those who can defend their opinions clearly and convincingly have many advantages - and we practise this with creativity and team spirit!
