Learning New Vocabulary with Fun: Body Parts & Health in Our German as a Foreign Language (DaF) Classes
This week, our DaF classes started the exciting topic “Sick and Healthy.”
The students in grades 5/6 first brainstormed all the words they could think of related to this topic and then presented their results in short presentations. In particular, new vocabulary, such as the names of body parts, was practiced in a playful way: with a word search puzzle and a movement game, they were able to reinforce their knowledge – learning and moving at the same time!
The older DaF students in grades 7/8 also practiced body parts in a creative way: in the game “Who am I?”, they tried to describe words without naming them directly – a fun challenge for both vocabulary and language skills. Afterwards, they also completed a word search puzzle to review and consolidate the new vocabulary.
Next week promises even more excitement: in a role play, the students will get to use the vocabulary they have learned in short dialogues – practical, interactive, and fun.
